Hi! My name is Lucy…

LucyHi! My name is Lucy and I am about to fly to the island of Santo. I am going to be living in the bush and working with itinerant preachers Gino and Freddie. They graduated from Joy Bible Institute last year and are now taking care of five rural churches and teach “religious education” in a primary school. I hear that I am going to be in great demand once I get there! Will you please pray for them as they share God’s love to adults and children alike?

P.S. We could really use some reinforcements here…do you have any puppet friends you are not using? Maybe your church kids could take up an offering to pay for the postage to send them to Vanuatu! I can guarantee that they will be very busy here working with JBI graduates!

Gotta go catch my plane…

Thanks so much,

Lucy

JBI Spiritual Emphasis with Pastor Tony Hallo

We had a wonderful eight days with visiting friends, Pastor Tony and Eunice Hallo from Townsville, QU, Australia. We were so pleased when they accepted to come as our Spiritual Emphasis speakers this year. Cyclone Sandra was heading our way and scheduled to hit our island the day before the special meetings were to begin. Thank you to many of you who prayed that we would be spared the storm. The cyclone did turn from its easterly path and headed south away from us and other nearby islands. The Hallos were able to fly in on time and begin a special week of ministry!

Pastor Tony spoke to the students in the morning chapel times and then in public meetings held in the school chapel each night. The crowd grew with each day and people were sitting in chairs outside the door and standing at the open windows. Our hearts were challenged afresh to draw nearer to God. It was a wonderful way to begin a new school year at JBI!

Good fellowship!

On Sunday, the Hallos were invited to speak in two different city churches before flying home the next day. We are looking forward to their next ministry visit!

Married Dorm Almost Finished

The married dorm at JBI is almost finished and it is looking really nice. Two student couples are waiting to move in as soon as it is ready. Our pace has slowed in the last couple weeks because we have run out of funds but the workers are pressing on with the materials on hand.

Any size gift to help complete these 3 studio apartments would be so appreciated. We need to purchase six doors, windows, remaining plumbing and electrical fixtures, septic tank PVC pipes and exterior primer & paint.

Chapel Roof Repairs

A big THANK YOU to friends at Bendigo AOG church for financing the repairs on the JBI chapel verandah roof. The metal roofing, the ceiling plywood and water damaged beams have all been replaced. The repairs should be finished tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help!
